My server doesn't appear on the server list after I opened ports.
-
Hello,
I opened the default ports for UDP and it doesn't work. I tried changing it to TCP/UDP and even tried using the TCP port 27015 that is normally used and it doesn't work either. I followed the tutorial for making a server and it sends Heartbeats succesfully so it should be working. -
NeoRekt are you hosting on the same pc you're using to play the game? In that case the server will be using port 28961 as 28960 is already in use by your client. Idk where you get 27015 from, that isn't used by us.
Make sure to also create a windows firewall rule to allow incoming traffic on the server port (udp). You only need to forward udp as well.
Additionally it's possible you're not seeing your own server because your router doesn't support wan loopback, other people will see it tho.
-
Dss0 Yeah I'm hosting from the same PC that I launch the game. Now I've changed everything to use port 28961 but still can't see the server in the server list. It still says Heartbeat Succesful so it's running. Is there a way I can get people to join?
-
NeoRekt What's the name of the server? I will check if i see it (pls start it now if it's not running)
-
Dss0 It should be up now. It's called "Neo Test Server"
-
NeoRekt oh it's t6.. you posted in bo1 server support. For t6 the default port is 4976, doesn't matter tho you can change it to whatever.
Anyways your server is registered on our master but it's not joinable meaning udp traffic can't get through to it.
Can you post a screenshot of your port forwarding settings? -
Dss0 Omg I'm so stupid. Sorry I wanted to create one for T5 too but I forgot I was making one for T6. Here's a pic of my Router Settings
-
NeoRekt there's no option to assign the forwarding rule to a specific ip/pc on the network? well ok i guess it forwards it for any lan ip then..
Is there a status page on your router that shows the WAN ip? If there is compare it to the one you see when you visit this page: https://www.whatsmyip.org/. Is it the same? -
Dss0 There's a WAN Configuration section but it doesn't show any IP... Although there's a configuration for IPv4 Mapping, that I don't know if is relevant:
-
NeoRekt strange settings, it doesn't allow setting any port. Maybe it opens all of them?
Try:
Mapping Name: T6 Server
WAN Name: leave as is
Internal Host: Select the pc that runs the server from the dropdown menu
External Source IP: leave empty -
Dss0 Done, I closed and reopened the server too
-
NeoRekt still can't connect.. no idea. Maybe you're behind carrier grade nat..
-
Dss0 Ohh damn. There's no way I can change that? Or I need to contact my ISP?
-
NeoRekt well idk if you are behind cgn, if you are then you can call your isp and ask for a static ipv4 address.
To test it you can try this site: http://ip.bieringer.net/cgn-test.htmlTest supported protocols -> Start initial test -> Set amount of connections to 1024 -> start normal test (will take 66s). Then post a screenshot of the results.
-
Dss0 Here's the results
-
NeoRekt lots of yellow means you're most likely behind cgn. you can try the test again with even more connections (it'll take a long time tho), if it ever turns red it's certain you're behind cgn.

Dss0
Bruh. So I need to talk to my ISP and tell them to give me a Static IPv4 ? I believe I saw a setting to change it in the configs
-
NeoRekt yes you need to talk to your isp. Ask for a static ip or just ask if they can give you a non-cgn dynamic one but it's questionable if whoever you catch on the phone even knows what that is.

Dss0 K. Thank you so much for the help
