cant get past the bootstrapper

The bootstrapper loads but its says nothing and then closes .I saw that you have to type this into it r_fullscreen 0; vid_restart
but it doesnt let me type. Can someone please tell me what to do -
i have tried scanning my files on steam but still doesnt work

If you downloaded the game on Steam then make sure you downloaded both MP and ZM.
If you did then repair both the MP and the ZM in Steam
