Sophiekin If hosting on your own pc you will probably not be able to see on the server list, try doing "connect (ipv4 adress)" that usually works if you're running on the same pc you're playing on

Ducxy Hosting from a home connection is fine, I do it all the time. It's not good for the uptime stats of your server since you probably won't have your PC on 24/7, but other than that there really aren't any issues, as long as you have the negligible amount of CPU and Memory to run the server(s).

luigistyle Hosting a server from your home connection to the open public is in general never a good idea, even with a good amount of resources. Especially game servers as people tend to DDOS or get information from the IP. However it would be fine for this IF you have a decent hardware firewall

luigistyle Like I was thinking of hosting from home with a firewall and a rack mounted server. was going to maybe spend a grand for a rack, server, and firewall.

Apparently the rack alone can cost that much, so good luck

Ducxy There are many hosting services you can use, which would be much cheaper
