Why is this happening with my launcher?

Because you didn't select your correct mw3/bo2 folder in the game settings of the launcher.

You click on game settings beside play on the launcher, and select your correct folder. If its mw3 and you got it from steam, it should be in Steam/steamapps/common whereas if its bo2, you select the folder wherever you ran piry in(or if you have a steam bo2 copy, select that folder)
