Does anybody know how to create a custom game with friends?

Idk if this is the right place to ask, but the discord support could not help and youtubte guides dont work. I tried using hamachi and tried just hosting a game and then having my friend try to join through the Friends tab, but when he does that it just says "Joining game session" and then nothing happens. Any help is much appreciated

make sure your friends follow you and make sure you're following your friends, start up the custom game then have your friends 2x click your name
