Plutonium Verification Form
-
Day 2, get your votes in now!
-
I get it. Pluto is for keeping the games safe, not piracy. What most don't consider is that countries outside of America exist (Crazy, I know). As an Egyptian I do not think it's fair that my mother works as a pharmacist (aka got through hell in school) And has a good job only for a game from 2012 to cost half our monthly salary. For teachers here that's more than the monthly salary. If people wanted they could just buy the game on steam but for African gamers (and people in places with generally weak currencies) it's not fair at all
Besides, Activision will Cease and Desist this as they like
No matter if it has ownership verification or not since it's stealing players form their money cowns
We kinda scared the shit out of them when they killed SM2 and Xlabs so I don't think they have the balls to touch pluto -
The thing is, Pluto is bigger than XLabs. While you may think that steam ownership check will 100% save you, it won't. Why? Because you still hosted torrents for almost 5 years at this point and Activision 100% knows about it. You are bigger than XLabs and you really think Activision doesn't knows about you hosting torrents for 5 years? If they really cared about piracy, you would've got C&D in the span of those 5 years or, hell, in the span of those 3 months when we still could've used pirated copies of the games. XLabs got C&D because it was selling access to BOIII client on their patreon first and foremost. SM2 got C&D because of the piracy yes, but then again, SM2 is basically a whole new COD game on MW2/MWR engine.
I agree that we should encourage people buying games. That's why we should make it like that:
- Don't host torrents on plutonium website. If people wanna use pluto with a pirated copy, they would need to find that copy themselves.
- Don't give any support until person asking for support verifies ownership of the game on steam. So, if person playing a pirated copy wants to get client support, require them to buy a copy of the game.
- Leave ownership checks for dedicated server owners. So you are gonna need to buy the game if you want to host your own dedicated servers.
This, while encouraging people to actually buy the game, won't be as unfair to people who live in places where 45$ (in BO2 case, on sale with season pass) is a lot of money.

Mostafa_XS1 same for me too bro. im 17 from nigeria and even though i dont live there anymore [ uk rn] it kinda pains me verfication will be added. our exchange rate in nigeria is really bad rn. buying games is really hard except if you are rich enough and buying games with my nigerian currency is even more expensive than buying the game abroad. i just moved away from nigeria to the uk sometime ago but i could only play games then and now by pirating them. i know no one advocates for piracy but the reality is most of us from third world countries cant really afford to play games without having to pay too much money due to bad exchange rates . a dollar in my country is 777 naira [ not even considering black market price as its even higher than that and you cant even buy dollar in banks here] i know thats weird but thats how it is. i like playing mw3 and also bo2 but due to the verification i wont be able to play them anymore .plus im more of an offline player even though im in the uk now where there is unlimited internet whereas in my home country, cellular data is really important and expensive if you dont use a broadband
-
taurion15 thanks for the comment man. you understand how hard it can be in third world countries to buy games
-
im againts it cuz i want to keep playing with my friends like the old days its a 11 year old plus games yall
-
Mostafa_XS1 I think your assessment is pretty spot on, well said
-
InTrance Thanks! It's not really an assessment it's what's going on outside of America and Europe
-
Mostafa_XS1 I hear ya man, i meant your assessment of the c&d situation and how acti would do it anyways ^^
-
im chillin
-
i am againts that i love the Game but 800 Mexican pesos for a 11 years old game that suck
-
If old COD games were actually reasonably priced, I think most people wouldn't mind the verification, but there is no reason for an unsupported game that is many years old to be 60 dollars, even 20 bucks on sale is a steep ask especially since the DLC is still full price (Activision moment).
-
CEOofBadPlayers said in Plutonium Verification Form:
even 20 bucks on sale is a steep ask especially since the DLC is still full price
Maybe you should read the actual announcement first before you start to rant?
-
Xerxes Plutonium not checking for DLC ownership gives Activision a good enough reason to potentially give it a C&D.
-
imo this is really silly, AAA publishers have continually shown that if they want a mod taken down they WILL C&D it regardless of the legality (ie: rockstar, activision, nintendo). removing torrents off the site was a good move though and should've been done years ago, I have no idea how pluto did that for so long without activision taking action
additionally, the plutonium dev team really seems to underestimate just how many of their players are pirating lmao. if they go forward with this change plutonium is going to lose a lot of it's players and alternative clients will likely eventually pop up that don't care about ownership status
-
iwtr-nny imagine being racist on plutonium forums. Most cringe thing i have seen in a while.
-
Will this vote actually have an effect on pluto getting verification?
-
no it wont
-
Damn.
-
Xerxes He didn't rant just stated his thoughts. Is that not wanted anymore i guess??
