Me and my friends were trying to play BO2 and ended up having to download Plutonium since Steam servers are non existent and their network issues are unbearable. Me and 1 friend managed to download the .exe just fine, ran it to install the Plutonium files, logged in and played together with no problems.

Another friend downloaded the game, tried running the .exe and absolutely nothing happened. No error messages, no pop up windows, nothing. I sent him the redist install script, didn't help. Running as admin, still nothing. Disabled Firewall and windows defender, nothing.

What should I tell him to do? What are our choices now? All of us just installed the game from steam, and he even verified files and reinstalled after it not working the first time, but we are out of ideas. Any suggestions?

Is he on Windows 8.1? Also he doesn't have any other AV besides defender?

Windows 10, only AV running was defender, then he turned that off as well.

He did, nothing changed. Still can't open the .exe, sadly.

It's either because he's missing the 4.7.2 framework or it's his AV - but he's using defender so doubt that's that. Ask him to try this http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=863265 - it's the same thing disso posted but the offline installer for it. Probably won't make a difference but worth a try xD

Sorry for the super late response, but no dice. Still can't run the .exe.

Big pause, I actually got some extra info from him. He apparently can't even run and install the framework, because for some reason it states his OS doesn't support it. Do you have any clue on what could be the issue? He's using W10 home I think.

N1zle tell him to open the start menu and search for "winver" then run that command. Post a screenshot of the window that opens.

Turns out he had literally Windows 10.0, first build lmao. It's all good now, we managed to update it (after a long session of troubleshooting, he was getting a ton of different errors when trying to update normally. MCT and Upgrade this computer did it for him), and Plutonium was successfully installed! Thanks for the help!
