this is where it stops working, when i try to click on the game itself it doesn't show anything it just keeps this screen

(another question, is it even required to open the game once to host a server?)

Can you hear ingame sounds running in the background? Try writing this in the bootstrapper (black cmd window) - r_fullscreen 0 and vid_restart.

HannesC yea that is just a fullscreen issue his game is launched but is minized just the standard windows loves to fuck you or its just bad game design that pluges cods when it comes to full screen apps
