When checking the launcher on Virustotal it shows a result for Trojan.Malware.300983.susgen on Maxsecure. Is this a false positive? Why is this happening? Is it safe? Sorry if this is a simple question.

Max afaik it's because the software is unsigned "unknown" to antiviruses.
But you will often notice that false positive happen on bad and unknown antiviruses. They use random stuff for their detections.Only popular known good antiviruses really matter.
A random chinese AV should be ignored.More info on the link above
