Server hosting setup after update
-
Hi guys, is there any change to do on the server hosting side? I tried the dedicated_MP.cfg and server.bat file that I was correctly using before the update, but now the prompt remains stuck on "sending heartbeat"
Do I have to modify anything on those 2 files?

HannesC thank you... I've followed the procedure but when I run the .bat file it tells me that XINPUT1_4.dll is missing.
-
Think that's related to directx, hold on I'll post a link
-
HannesC Nope, when I try to install the Directx SDK package you linked me, a warning says that I've already a more recent or equivalent version, and the installation is not needed. But XINPUT1_4.DLL still missing...
-
Bender if you are on window 7 or windows server 2012 and 2012 r2 you need to update as pluto no longer works with windows 7 because of xinput 1.4 being shipped with windows 10 so you need to update to windows 10 and or windows server 2016 or 2019
-
FragsAreUs thank you, I'll try with a more recent OS.
-
FragsAreUs ok on win10 I can launch the .bat file, but it has a strange behaviour (at least different than before the update). The prompt says something like:
Sending heartbeat
Heartbeat successful
Sending heartbeat
Heartbeat successful
...(the text could be slightly different, I've not the monitor in front of me...)
So it seems to work... But then I cannot find my server in the server list.
What could be wrong?
PS: I'm using the same computer for hosting and playing,... Could it be an issue?
-
Bender the "strange behaviour" is completely normal, it would be strange if it didn't say that. If you're hosting and playing on the same pc, change the server's port to 4977, the game already uses 4976 (atleast if you start it first). If it still doesn't work post a screenshot of your port forwarding settings.
-
Dss0 Still not working: I changed the server port to 4977 as you mentioned, but theserver still doens't appear in the list. Both ports are forwarded, firewall and antivirus are temporary disabled to esclude also this variable.
I don't really undestand what could it be.
The prompt of the server shows this:
Is it right? I remember that before the update it was showing also some IP numbers...
-
Bender unless you have nat loopback you will not see the server on the browser if your are on the same network I have this same exact issue and I have to just direct connect to my servers
-
FragsAreUs so you mean write the command line "connect myip:port" in the mainpage of the game? And the same also for my friends I suppose. Correct?
-
Bender for you you have to direct connect your friends if you gave your server a name in the config should see your server just fine in the server list

FragsAreUs said in Server hosting setup after update:

I would totally support your explanation but he does not have any ping requests shown on the console, it takes like 1 second until they show up after starting a server.
Bender make sure your Windows Firewall is not blocking anything.
-
Xerxes could you screenshot me a "right" working prompt window? So I know what I should see...
I confirm that no ping comes even after minutes... Just this 2 lines repeated several times.
Thank you! -
Xerxes right I totally forgot that with the new update it shows people who are pinging your server
-
Sure, don't mind the color though, I was just too lazy to log into my Windows machine.

Xerxes wait, I' not sure to have understood... Are those all players connecting to the server? Because in case nobody comes into my server, I should see no IP numbers pinging with me. Have I understood correct?

Bender You will see a pingreq as soon as someone refreshes the serverlist on his client. The client will ping all servers in order to correctly display the ping on the serverlist.
