Hope it ends by then...

Im waiting to see what happens after the 16th atp. Hope it doesnt continue cause I still dont have access to bo2. This verification thing should be temporary, not an infinite mismatch. If it was infinite, youd already have lost 50% of the playerbase

What will happen is that a bunch of servers will be de-listed, that's it. Nothing will happen to you as a player.

Resxt Your restaurant analogy was pretty damn hilarious tbh, in the other thread. Obviously you can't compare something like a digital product to something that's physical, which has to be produced and due to that is in limited supply. You guys went from "download the game here/the launcher will download the full game for you" to now, essentially, scaredy-cat real damn quick.
Will it be half-assed though? Because in your server owner thread it says it won't be checked whether or not DLC is owned. Surely you wouldn't let people get french fries and soda for free, just because they paid for the main course, right? Because they only paid for the burger and not for the fries or coke, so your analogy, if it were good to begin with, would fall apart right then and there.
In the end I get why you guys are doing this, but at least be upfront about it and just say "we don't want to get sued/have our work CnDed by corporate". Don't make up excuses, just tell your players how it is.
-
Dss0 Well, for now. Because in your ownership verification thread you guys have said that if you're a player "nothing just yet" has to be done. Which to me signals that one day you will enforce game ownership for players too. Unless this whole thing is just a thinly veiled smokescreen, to trip up corporate into thinking there's no freeloading going on here.
-
That hasn't been decided yet.
Also the trying to please atvi part isn't the only reason we're doing this, requiring server hosters to own the game also allows us to finally put a stop to all the people who keep breaking the rules we put in place for hosting servers. -
FaZe Flick Get a part-time job or cut someone's grass to make some money under the table. There is no excuse for not having a job. I've had a job since I was 13 years old. You do realize that there are countless clients/projects that require you to own the game, such as Fivem - Gta5, Northstar client - Titanfall, Minecraft clients, Battlefield clients, etc. Most of the people complaining are the ones who can't afford the game. I would rather have the ownership check than deal with issues in the future or the worst outcome of plutonium shutting down. Any measures to prevent that are the smart thing to do.

nomorevideos this has been said tons of time and if people are too dumb to understand it that's their problem. Sorry but it's the truth

RedxSkull tbf this whole crybaby wave would have never happened if Plutonium was always a Steam owners only client. Lots of low quality users came here thinking they are entitled to free games so now that things changed they cry because they think something that's owed to them got taken away from them.
Hopefully the quality of the community will be better months after this is put in place

Resxt i definitely would agree with this if i still had bo2. What would actually be cool if it was linked to steam but just through profiles and not the games if that makes sense. Also, if I do ever buy bo2 to play it again on redacted or pluto do i have to pay for the dlcs as well or no?
-
RedxSkull Ah yes, Battlefield. Like BFBC2, which has been delisted and can't be bought anymore? I guess if a game isn't being sold anymore, not if you want to pay $200+ anyway, you're just SOL?
It's not about the money, it never was, it's about the fact that these companies do not give a single fuck about their customers or their products. W@W was broken for how long again, like 1 1/2 or 2 years? Before Activision finally fixed the whole "create profile" issue for new licenses. BO3 is still broken to this day and you need a community patch to fix the constant stuttering.
I've paid $150 for BO1 Prestige Edition in 2010 and bought 2 DLC packs, I've also bought BO2, pre-owned, and got all its DLC for full price. I've given Activision my money time and time again, with Ghosts, which I bought on 2 platforms in total, I gave them money for BO3 and the SP and then again for ZC. IW, WW2, BO4, etc etc.
And what do I get in return? A game full of cheaters, that can break your save data, and a stuttering mess. Sorry that I don't want to give Activision more money. Especially not since they don't care about these older games anyway. Why do you think these older games never drop in base price anymore? It's, most likely, due to the fact that no sane person would buy WW2 or BO3 for 50% off (during a sale, duh), if they could get the newest CoD for the same discount, just a few months after it launched. These older games are dead, in part due to the pricing, but the appeal isn't there to begin with for new CoD players.
The people who own BO1/2 on Steam will continue to use Plut, but anyone else, they'll likely just go and move on to something else, or simply continue playing via other means, like Hamachi, or just keep to themselves in a solo game. Activision will never see another cent from me personally. It's not about the money. -
Resxt Once again, big words when you guys, according to anywhere on the internet, let people download the game for free to begin with. Unless of course all those posts I've read online are wrong and you're never supplied a torrent to your users and/or had the launcher download the torrent for you.
If that's wrong, whatever. If this whole freeloading thing bothered you so much, with "low quality users" using your service, you should've implemented an ownership check a long time ago. Surely it's not difficult to verify whether or not a copy is legit, is it?It's genuinely nice that projects like this one exist, but to act this way now, it's just very weird. Whether or not you guys will start enforcing player game ownership too, I for one don't care much. I, as most likely many others, will simply move on. But I guess that's okay since I am just a low quality player.

nomorevideos said in Hope it ends by then...:
BFBC2
As I mentioned earlier, there are countless clients and projects that require ownership. While I won't name them all, I gave examples of different clients. Clients and projects for different games have existed for years before and after Plutonium. The majority of these clients require ownership, so it's not something new to the gaming community.
Some people are upset that they have to spend money, but Plutonium is not forcing anyone to play on their client. The rest of us appreciate that this client exists and remember that it took years of development before it was released. Why throw all of that away just to keep freeloaders around and risk the project in the long run? If you really care about this client, you would want it to be around any way possible.

nomorevideos there's no acting or decisions. Admins did it coz they could without sanctions, that's about it. Now they can't so they don't it's that simple. Stop trying to act smarter than you are.
As for me I just gave my opinion which is a reaction to a huge amount of people blaming the project for no longer allowing them to pirate so this is legit and logical, you seem to not understand.
Also I'm just a Discord/forum moderator my opinion is just mine and none of what I think or want impacts how the project works so this whole "you should have done X or Y" is irrelevant because everything I said is my personal opinion as a regular member. I don't decide on anything on this project
