This is for people with issues reguarding DirectX AKA DEDCOMPILER_43.dll
-
So i had a issue with the D3DCOMPILER_43.dll not being on my new laptop when i bought it and tried running Bo2 through plutonium, tried researching found ppl saying you need DirectX 9 to be downloaded. found that the download was missing "404 Page not found" from the official Microsoft website.
Other solutions to this was running "dxsetup.exe" "from the game files" which is real vague and completely useless because i searched my entire pc and there wasnt a single file with that name on it.
after this i made a post on the microsoft forums they responded in less then a day which was very convenient.
giving this:
This is the link:
https://web.archive.org/web/20200224091501/http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=8109After giving you this link stuff should be fine, the rest of this is just further guide is you have troubles
After downloading, create a folder in programfiles and call it DirectX, like so
.
It will download many files as you can see in the next photo
Scroll down to "DXSETUP" and launch the .exe
This should successfully allow you to launch the game.
Comment if you have any issues.Could Some Admins Pin this or make a more formal copy of this to prevent further issues

DXSETUP.exe is in the Redist folder of your downloaded game if you've used the t6 torrent. Since iw5 is being downloaded via Steam it doesn't have the folder. Also, there's a redist tool made by Chase which includes DirectX iirc.
-
I've moved this to BO2 Support as it's a BO2 related subject, not the launcher. The launcher just gives you the error from the game.
Nice effort but this is just the DirectX redist which is included in the Steam install and the torrent, our readme / install guide also mentions it. For that reason I won't be pinning it, there's always a pinned thread that contains that info.
But who knows, people may search for their error and find your thread, so again - good effort.

icyrotten Might need to update that one to be honest, it just pulls
dxwebsetup.exe
from an archive.org link, which (probably?) doesn't install properly as it needs to download files from M$, and if they 404'd the initial download I assume the web setup (which grabs files from somewhere) is broken.I'll investigate soon, but the "fallback" solution is to just run
DXSETUP
from inside the game(s)redist/DirectX
folder.
