Launcher not working properly.

My friend is trying to get plutonium se we can play zombies together but for some reason the launcher doesn't launch the game. He has the right directory and the game works when he launches it manually but when the launcher does it nothing happens. No command prompt popping up or anything it just closes down. Is there anyway to fix this?
