Welcome to the Plutonium forum, this area is designed to have a much slower pace of conversation than Discord. This is a place we can easily communicate our plans whilst also providing support, threads and posts allow for harder to fix problems to be looked at on a more 1 to 1 basis rather than 20 people asking for help in 1 Discord channel.

What does the forum do?
The forum will provide authentication for Plutonium, meaning in future updates you will use your forum credentials to authenticate yourself as a player, meaning server admin's can ban people or give them extra perks based on their unique forum account. CoD clients have worked like this since 2010. It's a nice method. Later it will allow Plutonium to add cross-game friends list.

We have some super exciting features and changes in the works for 2021, these changes mean that our current web platforms will need a face lift and the recognition and attention they deserve.

With https://plutonium.pw/ https://platform.plutonium.pw/serverkeys and https://forum.plutonium.pw/ all receiving a combined 4.5 Million pageviews a month, we are looking for a motivated and talented Modern Stack Web Developer to join our Project!

The Job:
You will be joining our existing development team to refresh all our above sites. You will be working along side the staff team to discuss drafts and work collectively to create a clean user experience.

Our homepage will ideally need to be brought from it's ageing look to a more modern and professional style that our work promotes for the project. With this being the first page many of our new players see, we want this to be as info friendly as possible and give a good overview of the project for new comers.

Our serverkey platform will soon be expanded to contain more features as well as being more user friendly. Your work will be front and center.

Our forum - responsible for alot of the pageviews - we currently run one of the largest NodeBB installs on the Internet however this software shows it's glaring weaknesses at this scale, as such we are looking to swap to Discourse, which is ugly in it's default state.
Our new Web Developer's primary focus will be to create a new theme for our Discourse forum which will also incorporate our Knowledge Base. All 3 area's will have similar theming for uniformity.

No backend experience is needed, the role is entirely frontend.

The Project:
We have over 5 years experience reversing and modifying the Call Of Duty game series, over the years we've reformed and rebuilt to and continually improved and aimed to deliver a high quality product. We love these games and we love to see what we can do with them. We've built a great community and 2021 will be better than ever with some of the plans we have.

Our Team is built of 30 people ranging from ages 16 to 30+, we are a bunch of nerdy gamers who like to fuck around, the project is a hobby at heart for us all to learn new skills, we try to be organized and hold monthly voice chat meetings to catch up. Most work is done via Discord Text Chat but we consider ourselves friends so will regularly see various staff chatting off topic.

Most of the team are working or in higher education, we fully understand that some days you can give 3 hours to the project and other days 0. The staff team is roughly split between European's and American's. We even have an up-side down Aussie, so there's always somebody online.

The entire staff team work on a volunteer basis and as such you are also expected to work on this basis, so please don't proceed any further if you're expecting to be paid.

You must be over 16 to apply and must be able to read and write English.
Design experience is preferred but not essential.

OK lets see...

You have an account from July 5th that was in use and then you registered cohkeyy 16 days ago. You were banned roughly 90 minutes ago.

Without even looking at the logs, my guess is that you decided to create a new account and try out an aimbot eventually, or modify something you shouldn't be or not in the correct way. Regardless, you then got banned, saw a ban time of 7 days and thought "ha, fuck that, sneaky boi got his alt" and then logged in with that and realized you've now been banned for longer.

You then decided if you pretend you have no idea what happened, maybe somehow we will decide to unban you (we won't, wait it out).

Oh, would you look at that, your alt was logged in to on the forums right around your ban time, that's odd.

So am I right with the above or are we going to pretend you did nothing like all the other people with the same story who then eventually tell the truth?

Much like respect everybody, respect staff. Not everything we do is something you will agree with but this project is provided for free and we do NOT work for you, so you must accept that we might refuse to comply with demands if we don't agree with them.
Using Plutonium or a close variation in your name is not allowed - it allows too much risk of impersonation. Username's that could be used to impersonate a staff member are also not allowed - your username will be renamed and an email sent to you if we find any that are too close to our own. IE. Zefyr or Eldors.
Advertising is not permitted unless a forum section is designed for it. This includes but is not limited to your YouTube channel, your Twitch, your 1337 sniper clan and your Uncle's really funny Twitter account. You can use the Trickshotting forum for your clips and there are specific threads for server advertising etc.

This may be something we will look into after the next T6 update, as we've basically re-written the client so alot will change, hence there is no point looking into it at this very moment.

Hello everyone,

We are currently looking to increase the amount of Alpha Testers we have, we are aiming to have enough testers so that whenever we do Alpha Tests, the amount of players we have fills 2 servers to ensure we can test overall stability.

At Plutonium we do two types of testing for new updates.

Alpha Testing - These are very early preview builds of updates to the launcher, IW5 and T6. Crashes are expected and bugs are rampant. This is done by a small number of people who have agreed to be testers and make time to test whenever we need it and are dedicated to testing.

Beta Testing - These are more polished preview builds of updates to the launcher, IW5 and T6. Most bugs have been worked out at this stage and providing the testing session goes well without any major bugs, the update normally goes live soon after. Beta testers are people who have donated $5 or more to the project.

How the application process will work:

Community Member replies to this thread with answers to the questions listed below.
Staff will review replies to this thread once a week.
If Staff feel you will be a good fit for the Alpha Tester role, you will be added to the Tester role on Plutonium's Public Discord as well as the Tester group on this forum.

Things to be aware of before applying:

Alpha Testing is for Testing, you are expected to follow instructions and listen. The sessions are not for normal playing.
As an Alpha Tester, you are expected to attempt to come to testing sessions if they are announced with a reasonable notice. If you are ignoring testing sessions, you will be removed.
You are expected to have an understanding of software troubleshooting and being able to provide detailed bug reports and problem descriptions.
If you've been previously banned by the anticheat you will be automatically rejected.

Questions that need answering when applying:

What is your Discord Name? (Include the # and numbers after the name)
What timezone are you located in?
Are you able to troubleshoot software problems effectively?
Do you have a good understanding of the English language in both written and spoken form?
Are you able to follow instructions and behave maturely when required?
Can you attend voice chats? (Having a microphone is preferred but not required)
Can you show anything you've helped with previously? (A youtube channel, github, moderate a community, run a clan etc)
Is there anything else you'd like to say / provide?

Please note - you will know if you are accepted based on if you are given the Tester roles, if you are not accepted right away, you may be accepted at a later date. If you are not accepted or don't want to have to follow all the same rules as a tester but would still like to test, becoming a donator is a good way to join in the more polished and relaxed Beta Testing sessions.

At first I agreed with Chase but after some thought I began to change my mind.

First of all - I assumed OP would be another "we want the game for free" guy but it seems OP is a logical guy - first of all, he understands that MP would be dead. Just going to be a real battle to get it going when you need full servers and getting that going is a challenge.

However I agree from a Zombies perspective - it doesn't take as much to get the ball rolling and the game is old enough that ATVI likely isn't going to care. It does already have servers though (although i've not played in like 4 years so maybe im wrong) but im sure Pluto could bring it's anticheat and other features if the demand was there.

I spoke to a few other staff and the overall opinion is that we will try it. If we can make sure Pluto WaW is compatible with the existing custom content, we might have a shot.

I like the effort in your post but Avail (The creator of RektT5) is our friend so we do not want to spend time to ultimately compete against them. (The same reason goes for MW2 and IW4x)

Security starts with you! Although we try our best to keep your information secure the recent high profile database leaks of the last year (MyFitnessPal for example) show that even multi million dollar companies have security breaches so here is a post to try and keep you as safe as we can online.

What we do to keep your information safe:
Our forum software runs on a forum software called NodeBB, NodeBB hashes all user passwords using the bcrypt hashing algorithm. This means we cannot read your password and neither can a successful attacker.

Hashes can be cracked to reveal the true password:
Hashes are only as strong as your password though, this is why strong passwords are so important, we suggest your password has a mixture of uppercase letters, lowercase letters as well as symbols and numbers and atleast 8 characters in length. A commonly used password is easy to guess and therefore the hash is easy to crack.

Password reuse:
Password reuse is when you use the same password for multiple services, this is a big problem - it's very easy for people to look online for your information including database leaks and find your old passwords, if you are still using these password's they can then be used to hack into others services that use the password, such as your email account.

Email Addresses:
A good idea is to have a separate email address for private use (connected to your bank account for example) and a common one for not so important services, such as Plutonium. This way if a database breach does occur it makes it harder for an attacker to find your more important email address.

2 Factor Authentication (2FA):
2 Factor Authentication is one of the best defenses in the situation where your password is stolen - 2FA requires your password as well as a secondary action to authenticate to a service and log in. This normally entering a time sensitive code from an app on your phone or getting an SMS message with a code on it.

This form of defense is being used more and more - as such we have adopted it's use since NodeBB has a plugin to allow its use. We suggest enabling 2FA on your Plutonium account - although we are not the most important service in the world it's still a good idea for peace of mind. If you do not want to enable 2FA here at Plutonium, please turn it on for your email account if it supports it. It's security 101.

How to enable 2FA on Plutonium:

Click your avatar on the top right of our menu bar at the top of your screen.
Click profile your name.
Click the circle with the 3 white squares inside it.
Click Two Factor Authentication.
Click the 'Enable Two-Factor Authentication" button.
Follow the on-screen instructions and you'll soon have 2FA turned on, every unrecognized device trying to log in to your account will require a code from your phone using the GAuth app or any other supported app.

Hey! The answer is somewhat.

They are two seperate projects. However some Plutonium staff members are also staff members for Xlabs (The people that make iw4x) and vice versa. Not all Plutonium staff are Xlabs staff and not all Xlabs staff are Plutonium staff.

In terms of rules, features, code, servers, websites and everything else - we are seperate, so there is no use coming to Plutonium to complain about an Xlabs ban for example. Plutonium has no issues with it's staff members being part of other groups or projects - we are a hobby project at the end of the day.

We do ofcourse have good friendships between staff members in both Teams. We respect each others work. We play games together.

Introduction:

To play Plutonium IW5 you will need a copy of the latest IW5 base-game. This is simple to do if you have a Steam account and is also FREE.

Downloading the files:

As part of the vanilla MW3, Steam provides a free MW3 Dedicated server download, this contains all the files needed to run the Plutonium IW5 Mod.

BEFORE STARTING THE DOWNLOAD ENSURE YOUR STEAM CLIENT IS SET TO ENGLISH OTHERWISE IT WILL FAIL TO CORRECTLY INSTALL THE GAME. Installing the dedicated server in other languages will result in missing files... thus causing errors when you try to use Plutonium.

Method 1:

This is the easiest method so try this first, if it doesn't work use method 2.

Copy the following link and paste it into your internet browsers address bar at the top of your browser to open Steam directly to the Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - Dedicated Server page.

Click Open on the prompt that appears, ensure it has Steam Client Bootstrapper selected.

This should take you to the page shown below, click the install button.

Go to the What Next? section of this thread.

Method 2:

Open Steam and then click View which is in the top left and then Library.

Click GAMES AND SOFTWARE above the list of games and tick the Tools checkbox.

Scroll down the list and find Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - Dedicated Server and click on this and then click Install.

What next?:

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 will download and install. Once done you can continue with the Plutonium install guide:

Banned 3 days ago - roughly 20 minutes after starting your game you injected. You know why you got banned, make another thread and we will ban your forum accounts too. You were banned for 7 days and then created a new account to try and bypass the ban which extended it to 14 days. Wait out the ban and don't try to cheat again.

I disagree for MW3, i rarely see hackers. You'll never get an anticheat that has a 100% detection rate.

BO2 is due to get the same anticheat but it takes times. I can see your frustration here.

If that's not good enough for you, then feel free to play the Steam version and not complain about a free project. Creating an anticheat is not an easy task and we all have day jobs and do this for free in our spare time.

IW4X has no anticheat yet has players, so your point is moot.
