Login seems to fail when authenticating. Is the error suggesting a certificate error? If so would it be server or client side problem?

Definitely server side. Main website says 0 users online. Tried the basic solutions like reinstall, creating a new account, and restarting computer. Same issue. Even when putting in nonsense as the login details, it fails before it even checks the info.

I did notice the plutonium launcher updated when I launched it. Haven't been able to login since. It also strangely made me reenter my credentials before it would launch yesterday. No problem logging in that time however. Thinking the update borked something or server issue.

Would they announce if they were shutting servers down for maintenance?
