  • Plutonium GH3/GHWT
    Eldorundefined Eldor

Back in April of 2023, we released GH3 as an April Fools joke. Since then we've refined it somewhat, and added support for World Tour.

    Follow these steps to play:

    1. Ensure you have a pre-existing install of the game you want to play, either vanilla or modded.

    2. Download Plutonium GH3 or Plutonium GHWT.

    3. Copy the file to your game folder.

    4. Rename the file to either d3d9.dll or dinput8.dll (.dll being the file extension, if the file was simply called plutonium-gho-gh3, you'd rename it to d3d9).

    5. Launch the game like your normally would, and create a new account (the "License" field doesn't matter).

    A few notes:

    • Leaderboards for the retail setlists should track and work, as long as you are logged in when playing.
    • Usernames can be shorter than what the game indicates, 3 is the minimum limit.
    • The same account can be used for both games, you don't need to create one for each.
    • Do not try to log in with your Plutonium Forum account, the accounts for these games are not tied to the Forum!

  • An update on game ownership verification
    Eldorundefined Eldor

We've decided to extend the deadline by two more weeks. Link a Steam account before the 16th of September!

  • An update on game ownership verification
    Eldorundefined Eldor

    Hi everyone,

For the past few months, we've been hard at work improving infrastructure and various non-game related services such as the forum. This has allowed us to erase a lot of technical debt, and we’re now ready to introduce ownership verification like we set out to do in late May. It’s not going to happen overnight, and we’re going to start with server owners.

    Roadmap

Starting next week (on the 21st), only accounts that have verified ownership will be able to create new server keys, and only for the games that’ve been verified for that Plutonium account. Existing keys will continue to work until the end of August the 16th of September, after which we'll prune all unverified keys, so make sure to verify your account in time to avoid interruptions.

    Verifying ownership

There’re currently two methods of verifying game ownership:

    Verifying on the forum:

    1. Make sure your Steam profile is public, both "My profile" and "Game details" need to be set to public during the verification process.
    2. Head to https://forum.plutonium.pw/me/edit and press “Click here to associate with Steam”.
    3. Login to your Steam account and follow the instructions, you should be redirected back to the forum.
    4. Click “Steam Games” on the left navigation bar (https://forum.plutonium.pw/me/steam-games) and verify that all your games have been detected. If no games are listed, make sure your profile is public and press the sync button.

    OR

    Verifying using the launcher:

    1. Make sure Steam is running and that you’re logged in on the correct account.
    2. Open a fully updated Plutonium launcher.
    3. Open “Game Settings” for the game you want to verify and click the “Verify Ownership” button on the right. Repeat this step for all games you want to verify.
    4. Go to https://forum.plutonium.pw/me/steam-games and verify that all your games have been verified.

So, what do I need to do?

If you’re just a player, nothing just yet. We’re doing this staggered rollout to ensure our verification strategy works as intended, and so that we can make the transition as smooth as possible.

If you’re a server owner, make sure to verify ownership for all games that you host servers on, and do it before the end of this month to ensure no downtime and additional hassle.

    FAQ

    Is family sharing allowed?

    • Yes, game copies obtained through family sharing will work using the launcher method, as long as the logged in Steam account hasn’t been linked to any other Plutonium account. Only share your copy with people you trust, since any abusive actions performed by them will affect you as the original owner too.

I’m VAC banned on Steam, does this mean I can’t use that account?

    • No, we don’t check VAC status.

I own the games across multiple Steam accounts, what do I do?

    • You can link multiple Steam accounts, using either of the two methods.

Do I have to own the DLCs?

    • No.

Do the 'Dedicated Server' variants qualify as verification?

    • No, you have to verify the actual base game.

  • Plutonium Quantum of Solace

    Watch the reveal trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WabtwDUEzG8

    Installing/updating:

    • Ensure you have the game installed (there should, among other things, be a main folder and a jb_mp_s.dll file in it). If you're missing discord_game_sdk.dll or EOSSDK-Win32-Shipping.dll, or if you're getting an "Invalid game version" error, download this and copy the files to your game folder.
    • Download the latest plutonium-quantum.exe and place it in the game folder
    • Run plutonium-quantum.exe to play

    Logging in:
When clicking Windows LIVE in the main menu, the game should open a browser and authenticate automatically, as long as you're logged in to the forum. If you aren't, login in the browser when prompted to. The authentication flow should continue automatically afterwards.

If anything goes wrong, make sure you're logged in to the forum in your default browser and restart the game and try again. Some browsers (like Brave) may block the authentication flow, disabling "privacy protection" features temporarily may help (like Brave's "Shield"). You could also try a different browser, and visit https://forum.plutonium.pw/eos/auth after clicking Windows LIVE at least once in-game.

    Joining parties:
Parties in this game have been implemented with the "invite to group" feature in Discord. When you're in a party (anywhere but the main menu), you should see "Invite x to Play Plutonium Quantum" in various places in Discord, use these to invite other people. Party members should also be able to do this. Read through this support article for more information.

If you have the Discord Overlay enabled, you should be able to invite straight from the game using that too (requires manually whitelisting Plutonium Quantum in Discord settings first).

    Finding games:
Matchmaking is implemented and can be accessed by pressing Find Game in the menu. If any matches for a specific playlist are found, your game should attempt to join it. Otherwise, you will become the host for a new lobby and wait for other people to join.

If you are unable to find games, try backing out and searching again. You can also ask people in #looking-for-games on Discord to make sure there're other people playing.

The game uses peer-to-peer lobbies, so your IP address may be shared with other people.

    Changing advanced settings:
To change settings such as cg_fov, com_maxfps, or to set an exact value for input_viewSensitivity, you have to modify the player config manually. The file path is <game folder>\saved\players\<user id>\config_mp.cfg. The file format should be familiar to anyone wanting to do this.

Note: Unlike our other games, we have not made the in-game console accessible. The reason for this is to improve the quality of public lobbies, we may enable it later.

    Common issues:

    • Connectivity issues (other people not being able to join your party, private match or public lobby)
      • Make sure Windows Firewall and any other "anti-virus" software isn't blocking the game. Additionally, make sure UPnP is enabled in your router, or manually port forward port 1000 to your computer.
    • Settings not saving while in-game
      • Open and close the Controls menu (after changing other settings), it should trigger a save

  • Future Plutonium Projects, or some ideas
    Eldorundefined Eldor

It's easy to sit and fantasize about game x and game y, but you don't realize how much time and effort each and every one of our games take. Our team has immense experience with the cod engine, but it still took well over 3 months to finish and release WaW. It's not that we wouldn't want to support loads of games, but for every game we add, we also add significantly more overhead in terms of testing, bug fixing and other maintenance etc. Therefore it isn't feasible for us to "just add game x", especially right now since we're working hard on some very cool features for our current games.

As for BO3 specifically, it's extremely unlikely to ever happen seeing how popular it is on Steam still, and we would never risk the entire project for it.

After further consideration, we've decided to temporarily ban the "Z-TAVERN" servers for a duration of 2 weeks effective immediately. We do not appreciate people monetizing ours (and others) efforts and goodwill like this. No further "rent seeking" or similar behavior will be tolerated, do better or face the consequences. Recouping server expenses is one thing, trying to turn it into a "business" is not.

Eizekiels You've caused trouble before, consider this your final warning.

  • T7.
    Eldorundefined Eldor

T7 is by far the most popular CoD game on Steam which is ultimately what matters - not necessarily when the game was released. As far as we can tell we're fine and stay under the radar working on the games we currently support/have in the pipeline, but T7 specifically would almost certainly get the papers flying at a certain law firm.

We don't have very strict rules on what people can and can't do within their own communities, and this drama seems to be largely concentrated outside our core community. With that said, we don't want assholes that ruin the fun for others around either, so we'll take a closer look at this.

What you could do meanwhile, is to chargeback or open disputes for the payments you've sent them (provided it wasn't too long ago), if they indeed have defrauded you.

  • New Plutonium.exe does not run.
    Eldorundefined Eldor

Make sure you have .NET Framework 4.7.2 installed, it might not be shipped with Windows 8 by default.

    Furthermore,

One thing I will tell you, if you continue with that policy of not covering O.S. a little old, Plutonium they will not
    massify.

We have already seen evidence of the opposite - we're growing like never before. Steam's surveys reveal that >88% of "gamers" run Windows 10, that's plenty for us.

Remember that MW3 and BO2 are video games from old years, players who want to play or start again, have decent computers to run them and with operating systems such as windows 7 or later that originally those video games are natively compatible.

Windows 10 shouldn't use any more resources than 7 or 8(.1), install an LTSC build if you don't want the extra "bloat".

It does not cover a compatibility for windows 7 and later, it is a shot to the feet.

Microsoft already dropped mainstream support for 7, 8 and 8.1, why should we support it?

But hey, it's the developers' decision (and I respect it), every startup has to make mistakes in order to learn and grow.

We're not a startup - we don't make any money - we do it on our free time and we don't have enough resources to test and develop for old platforms.

  • not to be rude but i liked the previous look of the forum page 😁

The old theme we used has been unmaintained for 3 years, and was incompatible with newer versions of NodeBB. This current one is the new default and surely has its issues and annoyances, but there aren't any better ones either 🤷

Can you check in Event Viewer -> Windows Logs -> Application and see in the list if you find any entries with ".NET Runtime" in the Source column. Also, where did you find this log? 😛
