Error Code 126 usually means Windows can’t load a required DLL. Common things to check: Install / repair Visual C++ Redistributables 2015–2022 (both x86 and x64) Install DirectX End-User Runtime (June 2010) Check antivirus / Windows Defender quarantine and whitelist the entire Plutonium folder Make sure the game files are fully extracted and not missing any DLLs Avoid long or weird install paths (use something like C:\Games\Plutonium) Run Plutonium as administrator If it still fails, the error message sometimes mentions a specific DLL — that usually points directly to what dependency is missing. Knowing which game (BO2, MW3, etc.) and Windows version also helps narrow it down. Hopefully one of these fixes it.

Upon further inspection I noticed the idiot move I made. I found out MalwareBytes was denying the website that downloads the Plutonium files, meaning I had to do the classic 'ol exception thing. Where was this an idiot move? MalwareBytes once in a while allows users to try a full version of their program for 2 weeks, free trial, without backup payment. Me not thinking of it, I signed up for it back then, and realized just before making this post that it's protection level was increased, so sudden websites it doesn't recognize (like THIS one that must be a website due to downloading files from source) was flagging it. It should only take a few seconds if your internet is decent. If it freezes you can try to restart the updater or try Cloudflare WARP or another VPN.

Moving them works. What I did was add plutonium to heroic, then when launching, click the ./ Folder to see what "drive" I'm in (drive X:\ usually). Then copy/pasted the path to my Linux install directory, replacing / with . Lets me keep things where I want them So "X:\home\user\.local\steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty Black Ops"
