But private matches are listen servers to the very word of their definition. You still have to portforward and they are already joinable (I think) through the friends list in PlutoIW5. The only thing they don't do is to heartbeat.

I think you are looking back at aIW and 4D1 through rose tinted glasses or the players did behave drastically different in your region than they did in mine.

I got the game today [plutonium mw3 ] , tried to play but there were max 70 ppl online. 20 of them were on 2 servers and all they did was look at the sky and run in small circles...u could not kill them. The other populated server was a free for all sh*tfest on rust with helicopters and other crafts on but NO rpgs to takeem down.Thats just stupid.

As already said it depends on where and when you play. What also helps is populating non shit servers

It uses the plain old Q3 protocol, any pre-made query for CoD 1 to 6 should work just fine.

The problem with dedis is not only on how poorly admins manage their population but also in the way they're configured, no map rotation, stupid time or score limits, unnecessary high player counts, all servers have 18 players when most maps can't handle that, the list goes on and on...

I am not saying you don't have a point here but everything you listed is possible with lobbies as well. And not all servers are configured like that.

You can do the same with dedicated servers and blacklist them.

That's one of the reasons I want matchmaking so badly, server admins can rarely be trusted to provide people with a proper game experience...

And then what? Kids with force host kicking you from lobbies instead? Its not like MM will magically solve the issue. With dedicated servers you can at least ignore the bad ones, with MM it can happen, that it will put you into the same lobby over and over again.

I mostly still have the same admins I have had 10 years ago due to the lack of decent to good applicants, I am not sure if its because our servers are less popular or because too much has changed during the years.

I would say pretty much at the same time when the shift happened from asking your local teen to fix your PC to asking your local teen's dad to fix your PC.

Deicide You could also just zip up the whole dump you have and share it with us, maybe there are a few nice additions or changes we don't know of yet.

I had the same issue, you have to start the client first then start the server on a different port then you can use the same folder for both.

It might be a bit ugly but you could try to reset your settings and get rid of the stored token by deleting your config as described here https://forum.plutonium.pw/topic/784/how-do-you-change-the-game-directory
